Government of India has not had and ban on Lotteries in India. Due to the reason of lottery gambling addiction of the public. Majority of the states in India banned lotteries. Few states like Kerala, Goa, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Punjab, West Bengal, Assam, Sikkim, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland having the lotteries. The central government enforced the law for the management and operation of lotteries in India by Lotteries Act 1998. And also introduced Central Lottery Rules 2010 to monitor and control the lotteries sales and distribution of prizes in India.
